SUCCESSFUL FILM FESTIVAL/ FUN BANQUET!

Thank you to all the parents who contributed to the concessions at The Drew and the end of the year banquet! The kids did a great job packing away the theater for the season and we had a beautiful dinner on an exquisite evening outside. Hula hooping, a trivia game with prizes, and unbelievable desserts were shared by all. Thank you for the gorgeous sunflowers. This was a memorable year and we will all miss the students moving on to new schools and adventures. We wish them  good fortune and hope they will return as alumni to visit often.

MARATHON SHOOTING!

We had a very successful weekend shooting our narrative films on campus. Thank you to Mrs. Benner for letting us use the lab for a location and to staff and faculty for allowing us to film in Albright over the weekend. We are almost finished shooting and getting excited about the editing process. Costumes, wigs, props, and makeup were flying in and out of locations on Saturday. Bloopers and laughter rang across campus as well as some darn nice footage of the creative scripts. From ‘mock’umentary to the surreal, the films are original and ambitious. Lookout Sundance…here we come!

SPRING FILM!!!!

We are off and running. Dr. Parrish and I are tickled pink with our ten film students. We welcome William Benner, BCD alumni, as our intern from Pittsfield High School. We are working on music videos right now and getting to know the cameras. Below is the film schedule for your reference, though hard copies went home with the kids and another copy was attached to an email. The Drew is May 18th at 7PM and May 19th at 3PM. We are inviting a few BCD alumni to submit again this year and are looking forward to showing all of our work from the trimester.

GO BCD THEATER ENSEMBLE!!!!!!!!!

COUNT DOWN!

We had a marathon rehearsal yesterday with great success. Thank you to Ms. Gratz and Kyle’s mom for a most delicious and nutritious dinner to keep us all going. This was the best cue to cue tech rehearsal ever. The cast was quiet and cooperative. Very professional. Then we had a blast running Act One in costume. A motley crew indeed!!!!!!!! Pass the word, our opening is Thursday night and we want a crowd.

ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL SET BUILD

Thank you to the parents and students who painted, built, sorted, hauled, and gave their time and creativity to our production yesterday. With all of our busy lives, giving up an entire Saturday to work toward our production is not only appreciated but inspiring. We had a delicious lunch and cookies provided by generous parents and accomplished all our goals and more by the end of the day.

POSTCARDS FROM CANTERBURY SET BUILD

Thanks to all who attended our productive set build. The prop room is organized, the wood and platforms tidy, Sera Daemi is working miracles with costumes using pieces from our collection, Doria Polinger is working her magic creating period hats and shoes, alum Helena Bruggeman returned and helped inventory lighting, parents Adam Weinberg, Nigel Hinds,Tom Butler, Diane Ciaburri, and Richard Beaven helped the cast build set pieces, rehang the commando cloth, and paint. The Beavens generously provided everyone with a tasty lunch. And Claire Raposo and Maya Sakharov pitched in to make the day successful. Special thanks to our technical director J.D. Falotico who organized and kept us all on track.

DID YOU KNOW IN THE MIDDLE AGES>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

-Female dress was especially geared so that a woman who was not used to the behavior of the clothing would either injure herself, or behave in a manner not considered ladylike. They were not allowed to touch their hands to their skirts which dragged along the ground and needed to be pushed aside by a particular movement of their feet when walking.

-Forks were exotic. People mostly ate with their hands, which they washed before every meal.

-Women sometimes plucked the hair from their foreheads to give themselves very high foreheads which people thought were beautiful.

-Chaucer died before Canterbury Tales was completed.

Stills From Rhinocerous

Cindy Parrish kindly shared this link with still photos from Rhinocerous. The DVD is in and will be available to go home Friday with all students who paid.
