This has been the most delightful trimester for co-curricular theatre/film! We started out with a blank slate and these five students have created a multi-media evening. Their individual strengths and visions shine through in these pieces. Acting, directing, filmmaking…..they are multi talented. The set build Saturday was successful and we are all excited about the performances this weekend. Please tell friends and family. They deserve a wonderful audience and the work deserves to be seen. Thanks to the parents who’ve pitched in and to Kathy Clausen who is a saint and huge supporter of the program!

 

After a successful Fall production we are gearing up for our winter production. We start rehearsal on Monday, November 26th. The ensemble will be creating an original piece with music delving into the theme of communication. Through improv, poetry, music, movement, design, and imagery, we will structure an original piece of theatre.

Emails went out today to parents of students signed up for the winter with attachments including the letter of agreement to be signed and the rehearsal schedule. Please review the schedule with your child and notify Ms. Brentano with any conflicts ASAP. Please attend the parent meeting Tuesday, November 27th from 4:45-5:30PM in Ryan 21. If you cannot attend, please give Ms. Brentano a a call 413 441-7856.

DVDs will be available after Thanksgiving for “Clue”. Please send in to Ms. Brentano cash and/or a check for $20.00 made out to BCD. Two DVDs may be purchased for $30.00. The show was professionally filmed and edited and the DVD is a keepsake.

Bravo! What a remarkable feat. In one short trimester these kids pulled together an incredibly difficult show with great skill and tremendous fun. Thank you to all the parents who did so very much to make it a success. The strike was finished in record time and we had a super cast party where we could reflect on our experiences and find some closure. We will all miss the project, but fear not……we had it professionally video taped and the edited version will be available for purchase after Thanksgiving. to preorder your copy, please send in to Ms. Brentano $20.00 cash or check made out to BCD and she will let you know as soon as it arrives. It captures great memories and makes nice grandparent gifts for the holidays.

We are so proud of our talented students and their dedication to the theatre program here at BCD.

Thank you to the parents who labored with us on Saturday. You are such a great support to the kids. We accomplished quite a bit. It’s wonderful to watch the team effort involved. Thanks for the snacks and drinks too!

Rapid Eye Movement was a great success. Despite Mother Nature’s plot to sabotage our production, we had super audiences and terrific feedback. Thank you to all the incredible parents who made the production take off. The cast was extraordinary. The commitment and talent was shining.
Newsflash: Cindy Parrish has taped two performances and one rehearsal (for close-ups) and will create an edited DVD of the show available for copies. Anyone who would like to order, please send in a check to me made out to BCD. The copies are $20.00 each and $30.00 for two. These are a great documentation of our efforts. Cindy made a beautiful DVD of our Fall Production (some copies still available for order) and I am thrilled she is sharing her talents again on this production.
An optional attendance strike will be held this Thursday, March 3rd from 3-6PM. Kids can take the bus to Winthrop after school, but parents must pick up kids by 6PM at the theater.
