About Mrs. Whalen
B.A., French, University of Texas
Before coming to BCD in 1999, Maria taught preschool at Elm Preschool in Pittsfield. She started at BCD as an Early Childhood teacher and moved to the French department in 2001. When she’s not teaching, Maria enjoys dancing, sailing, traveling, and reading. Maria has been traveling to Port-au-Prince, Haiti, working as a translator and helping her son raise money and community support for Konbit Football Ayiti, Inc. Maria has three children, all BCD alumni, and lives in Pittsfield, MA.
