The Winter Olympics will be held this year in Vancouver, British Columbia, February 12 – 28, 2010.   The Olympic Torch Relay began on October 30 and will arrive at the site on  February 12.  The flame begins in Olympia, Greece the site of the first Olympic Games.   It travels more than 45,ooo kilometers.    In physical education class we will be learning about the history of the Olympics, the countries participating, the events, and numerous other interesting elements pertaining to this exciting time. The Sixth Grade spent a week at the Hulbert Outdoor Center in Fairlee, Vermont learning team building skills.  Students participated in such activities as the Birds Nest, high ropes course, a day-long hike, night time astronomy, and bridge building to learn more about their classmates and how to get along with eath other while recognizing and celebrating their differences.

During the week of September 29-October 2, the students will be playing games from all over the world, including Vietnam, China, and Korea. This week is designed to introduce students to new games and show how similar childrens’ games can be. Ask your student to share the new games they have learned.
