Un bateau sur l’eau
Plouf! Dans l’eau!
We have recently discovered that we can rhyme in french. We have started with the following words:

We are also studying the following prepositions (which can be sung to the tune London Bridges):

The Kindergarten class has moved into winter clothing and some simple weather expressions. They are also learning a poem about a penguin and the month of January. We are working on the alphabet and our numbers 1-20. As a class we are reading a book (page by page) called Devant ma maison. We are learning the vocabulary using Total Physical Response (TPR). I hope some of them are sharing some of these poems and vocabulary at home!

We have worked on our numbers 1-12 with many different games, number recognition and one to one correspondence. The class has made up a game from a counting book called Le serpent et les petites souris. The little mice love to play in the prairie all while watching out for the snake. They fall asleep and the snake finds them and puts them in a big jar to eat for lunch. The clever, little mice trick him and escape. Next week we will start some body and Halloween vocabulary. We will work on the familiar finger play of Five Little Pumpkins in French.

Bienvenue!
Welcome to Kindergarten French. I will post what we are doing in class such as songs, poems, finger plays and vocabulary. We are starting off the year with some nature vocabulary that will go along with their Butterfly unit they are doing with Mrs. Patel. Here is one of our first finger plays we will start with next week:
La chenille avance doucement.
La chenille recule doucement.
La chenille tourne doucement,
Et voilà un beau papillon!
The students will meet a new friend, Lola the caterpillar, la chenille (who will later turn into a butterfly). We will also start with Eric Carle’s book La Chenille Qui Fait des Trous and study some fruit and food vocabulary. I am looking forward to the upcoming year!
