French 3
The class has been working on the verb aller (to go), and different places they go.
Je vais
Tu vas
Il/Elle va
We watched the classic Le ballon rouge and wrote compositions (in English) about courage. The class is almost done turning their thoughts on the film into story boards. In a couple weeks the students will have an assessment on lessons 1-10 in Symtalk. It sounds like a lot but it is all cumulative and the students know the material well. It will be helpful for them to review their spelling words in small increments, perhaps 10 words at a time. As soon as I am sure they are ready I will let you know the exact date(s). We will have a spelling quiz next Thursday on the following words (I will give them these words on Thursday, April 12):
Je vais
Tu vas
Il/elle va
J’achète
tu achètes
il/elle achète
La robe
le short
la veste
le pantalon
la chemise
la casquette
les chaussures

The following list has our spelling words for next week. Some of them are repeat words that have proven challenging for the students. We will have a quiz next Thursday, January 19. The students are doing excellent work in their Symtalk workbooks. They will also have a formative assessment next week on lessons 1 – 5 in Symtalk. This assessment is to simply to show what they have learned and then reinforce any gaps that may appear. It is NOT an exam that they need to study for. The students know the vocabulary well and most have mastered the spelling. The students have all been given a list of their spelling words. We are going to be exploring 1st, 2nd and 3rd person pronouns in the upcoming weeks.

3. Il y a
4. écrit
5. le croque-monsieur

3rd Grade Play
Dear All,
The third grade is looking forward to their presentation of Ma soupe de poule au riz! It is tomorrow, Wednesday, November 9 at 1 pm in Furey Hall. The students will be doing a recording of their poem in computer lab to go along with some beautiful illustrations they have done. To cap off their hard work they will be writing some sentences with their new vocabulary to go along with another project in computer. We are looking forward to sharing all of this with you!

3rd Grade French
We have started lesson 3 in our Symtalk workbook. We are working with the verbs, aimer, manger, jouer and regarder. The students are working in the 3rd person singular at this point. We will begin work with the 1st and 2nd person in lesson 7. The students just learned how to make the possessive (de) and have incorporated their knowledge of colors into their sentence building. An example of a sentence that our students came up with yesterday is: Le chat mange du fromage vert avec du pain noir. This sentence brought quite a few giggles. We are having fun!
