Middle and Upper School Highlights to 4-28

Dear faculty,

Please note the upcoming midterm review on the 25th! Also, we will continue to have secondary school re-visit days as well as other absences throughout the spring and I ask that all homeroom teachers make sure that their students are completing the “Appointment Form” we have in place. This forms allows their teachers, and me, to know about the absence and to have a record of their time/periods missed.

Thank you! Carmen

MS/US Highlights: Week of 1/3 to 1/13

Dear Faculty,

As you plan your new year, please make note of the following important events: the NEASC Program Committees’ meeting, ERBs and Midterm review.

Reminder: We have decided to discontinue the administration of the ERBs to the 9th grade class. It is clear that we have not readily used the data from the results and have found that the recently implemented ERB-WRAP exam serves as an excellent indicator of our 9th grade students’ writing ability. In addition, we will gain instructional hours for a class which often misses school for secondary school visits (fall) and revisit days (spring). Please lesson plan accordingly, as will I when I assign proctors for the Gr. 4-8 testing while 9th grade is in session.

Secondary School recommendations are due to Melissa as soon as possible during the first two weeks of January. Please let me know if any student from 8th grade, aside from Ford, has submitted reference requests. Congratulations to the 9th grade for getting its recommendations in their teachers’ hands by our deadline!

I wish you all a wonderful and restful Winter Break,

Carmen

MS-US Highlights 12-3 to 12-16

Dear faculty,

Please note that the 8th and 9th advisors will need to set time aside for the completion of Secondary School “brag sheets” during advisory over the next two weeks. I will leave copies in your boxes. Also, I need to get into all homerooms to discuss the NEASC survey students will complete in computer class (except 9th grade–with Kathy) in January. Will you let me know of a good time to come by? Either advisory or lunch? Finally, there is no assembly on December 16th and that time (2:10-2:55) can be used for homeroom parties or cubby clean-out, or both!

Thanks,

Carmen

Highlights 11/14- 12/3

Hello!

Please remember to check your conference sign-up sheets. Check information on location, the classes you teach, and breaks. You may make changes directly to these sheets http://mybcd.org/confer , which will “go live” for parents on Friday, November 18th in the morning. If there is any particular conference you would like to discuss with me beforehand, or would like for me to attend with you, please do not hesitate to ask.

In addition to the 6th Grade’s play rehearsals beginning, so will the Library Book Sale on Monday 11/28 . Please also make sure that your advisees are aware of the Sports Equipment Swap which will take place during P/T conferences–this is a wonderful opportunity to clear out closets as well as to pick up gear for the winter season.

Lastly, we will be meeting as a faculty to discuss our School’s mission on Wednesday 11/16. Following that meeting, we will meet in our departments for a review and updating of curriculum maps and materials to present the NEASC Program Committees for their work. We will also meet on Wednesday the 30th for the same purpose.

Good luck with grades and comments!

Carmen
