Grade 7Y English

Watts English 7 — HW Mon, 5/21 due Tues, 5/22

Later this week you will receive a review sheet/packet with all sorts of information regarding the exam. It’ll have suggested topics to review and suggestions on how to review for an English exam.

Tonight, please go back and write notes in the margin of the Trojan War packet if you did not do so this weekend. Then, finish reading the packet and write notes in that portion as well.

Watts English 7 — HW Fri, 5/18 due Mon, 5/21

1. Read the Trojan War packet up to the section “14: The Fall of Troy.” Write notes about important information in the margins.

2. Be ready for a quiz on Books 4-8 (the summary packet that you have).

3. If you did not complete last night’s homework, to type up your creative writing piece about one scene from Books 4-8, then please do so this weekend. I will not accept this assignment after Monday. If at all possible, please print rather than e-mailing me your paper.

Watts English 7 — HW Thurs, 5/17 due Fri, 5/18

Please follow the directions on the handout given in class — type and print your creative writing piece and finish any work not finished during class.

If you have a genuine printer issue and absolutely cannot print your work, then you may e-mail it to me.

Watts English 7 — Wed, 5/15 due Thurs, 5/16

Read the Books 4-8 packet given in class today.

Review your character chart (the notes you took about characters last week).

Watts English 7 — HW Mon, 5/14 due Tues, 5/15

1. Optional Romeo and Juliet soundtrack revisions due tomorrow WITH the original graded document.

2. Find 15 vocabulary words in Books 1-3. Write down the word, page #, and line #. Then look up a definition (wordcentral.com is geared toward students) and write it down. Then write a meaningful sentence; it doesn’t have to relate to The Iliad.

Watts English 7 — HW Fri, 5/11 due Mon, 5/14

1. Optional Romeo and Juliet soundtrack revisions due Tuesday WITH the original graded copy. I will not accept revisions after Tuesday, nor will I accept revisions that are not accompanied by the original graded work. Many of you are disappointed with the grades that you got; I strongly recommend that you proofread your work carefully and make strong comparisons between the songs and the scenes.

2. Read The Iliad Book 3. Be able to describe Helen in a possible quiz on Monday.

Watts English 7 — HW Thurs, 5/10 due Fri, 5/11

20 point quiz tomorrow on The Iliad Books 1-2 and your notes

Watts English 7 — No homework tonight, but…

Today I discussed with you the basics of the final exam. Here’s what I told you:

1. Milkweed and “Strange Fruit”

2. Romeo and Juliet

3. The Iliad

4. All grammar material covered from September – June

Watts English 7 — HW Mon, 5/7 due Tues, 5/8

Finish reading Book 1. Then, write a list of describing words/phrases/epithets for Zeus that you found while reading (just like what you were supposed to have done for Achilles and Agamemnon).
