H1N1 INFLUENZA VACCINATIONS WILL BE MADE AVAILABLE TO BCD STUDENTS ON WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 16TH FROM 2 p.m. TO 4 p.m. at BCD
With improved vaccine availability, the Lee Regional Visiting Nurse
Association has offered to administer H1N1 flu shots (learn more about the flu shot) and nasal sprays (learn more about the nasal spray vaccine) to our students at school for free. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that unless there has been laboratory confirmation of the disease, children should be vaccinated. It is advised, however, that you consult your child’s health care provider with any questions or concerns.
The VNA is promoting the nasal spray for the child’s ease and comfort but
he/she must be healthy. Also the child must not fall into the group listed
in section 5 on the nasal spray vaccination information sheet. Children
under 10 years old will receive the necessary second dose 28 days later
whether it is the shot or nasal spray.
Please read the three attached forms carefully. Click here for the Consent Form. The consent form must be downloaded then completed and signed. THE CONSENT FORM MUST BE RETURNED BY TUESDAY, DECEMBER 15TH TO THE FRONT OFFICE AT BERKSHIRE COUNTRY DAY SCHOOL. I am asking interested parents to please make arrangements to accompany your child if at all possible. As I get an idea of the numbers participating, I will do my best to work out time-slots for your convenience.
If you are unsure as to whether your child should receive the flu shot or
nasal spray, you may sign for both. As always, please feel free to call or email me with any questions but I may need to refer you to your health care provider for recommendations specific to your child. I regret the short notice.
