Dear Berkshire Country Day School Parents,

The faculty, administration, staff, and I are looking forward to welcoming everyone on the first day of school, Wednesday, September 2. Please review the attached information carefully and feel free to stop by or give a call if you have any questions.

Everyone will receive information soon about our plans for improved school communications, including a new webpage designed for the exclusive use of community members. Entitled “MyBCD”, this new communications site will centralize all information for parents and will include all-school communications, calendar information, links to faculty blogs and websites, and other resources for parents. Regular communication between teachers and parents is valued at BCD, and everyone is encouraged to speak directly with their child’s teacher or advisor. As always, please consult the Parent Handbook for changes and information about school policies.

It has been busy on campus this summer. Jesse Howard’s Summerstage actors, BCD/Eden Hill campers, and Tanglewood Institute musicians participated in engaging and meaningful programs. The preschool and kindergarten classrooms in Albright were renovated. Our technology infrastructure was upgraded, setting the stage for program advancement and improved communication between home and school.

Last year, we worked as a community to create a vision for the future of our school. The mission statement was revised, our philosophy and core values were clearly articulated, and a strategic plan was developed to set the course for innovation and change over the next five years. The results of our collective endeavor will be shared with you when we gather in September. There is much to look forward to at BCD this year. Best wishes for a sunny remainder of the summer.
