Harvest Festival Happiness
October 4, 2010
What a fun weekend BCD had at Annual Harvest Festival at the Berkshire Botanical Gardens in Stockbridge! A big BCD thank you to the Perkins Family and Maxine Carter Lome for volunteering at the booth on Saturday and Sunday. Thank you so much! We had a great time meeting families from all over the country as well as saying hello to many familiar faces from current families, students, alumni to past faculty who have known and loved BCD over the years. Thank you for coming by the booth as well as wearing your BCD Gear! I look forward to seeing you next year at this fun tradition of the Berkshires.
From NYC to the Berkshires
October 1, 2010
BCD Admission took it “on the road” last week when we attended the Annual Parents League of New York Day School Fair on September 21st. Many independent day schools from New York City and from as far away as the Berkshires (BCD!) were represented to help parents discover independent school offerings for their children.
BCD is represented at the Parents League of NY Day School Fair each year due to increasing number of families who join us each year from New York City. Each year we attend this fair and hold a reception to reach out to our New York families “in their own backyard” to speak to the benefits of a BCD education. There were 800 parents in attendance at the fair. BCD was represented by Mrs. Camen Dockery Perkins, Associate Head of School, who has first hand working knowledge of the Independent School culture in New York City. I would like to personally thank Carmen for her wealth of knowledge of the schools and its wonderful students from New York City.
The next evening BCD held a New York Family Reception at the Phillips Club on the upper west side for families interested in learning more about BCD. It was wonderful to meet parents and their children to learn more about their interest in the Berkshires, BCD and their draw to making the move north. We had a successful trip to New York and I would like to take the time thank the Roszkowki Family for their hospitality and generosity during our stay in New York.
This past weekend BCD was represented at two fairs in Berkshire County. Maxine Cater Lome, Director of Development & Communication and Joanne DelCarpine, Development & Admission Associate, represented BCD at the Annual Lee Founders Day Weekend where they had the opportunity to meet lots of families from Lee taking in the festivities of the weekend. Thank you, Maxine & Joanne, for all of your hard work and support of BCD Admission! We were also at the Annual Lenox Apple Squeeze where there were lots of children taking in the beading activities offered at the bcd booth! It was amazing to meet so many wonderful children from the Berkshires and Beyond! A special thank you goes out to Deb Jaferian who assisted at the craft table working with the many children in making their beaded crafts! Thank you, Deb!
We look forward to seeing you at the BCD Booth (B-06) this weekend at the annual Harvest Festival at the Berkshire Botanical Gardens in Stockbridge. It looks like the weather will be brisk and beautiful so please come by and say hello and don’t forget to wear your BCD Gear!
Happy Fall!

Welcome to bcd!
September 2, 2010
I would like to welcome all of our new families to bcd! What a wonderful few days we have had getting to know each other and introduce bcd to your students.
After two New Parent & Student Orientations and the First Day of School I know there are plenty of stories being shared at the dinner table at night and I look forward to hearing some of them!
Please enjoy some memories from our New Parent and Student Orientation:
I wish a wonderful new school year to all of our new families. It has been a pleasure and an honor to get to know you and your families over the past year during the admission process.
Congratulations and I look forward to being on this educational journey together!
Fondly,
Amy Freeman, Director of Admission & Financial Aid
Fun, Field & Fair Day!
May 26, 2010
A huge thank you to Paul Frantz, Courtney McDonnell & Stephanie Iverson for putting this day together and keeping this special bcd tradition alive! This could not have been done without the energy and support of the bcd faculty, Larry & Dan, the Parent Association and most of all; the students!
Thanks for a fun day, everyone!
BCD & Me Nature Crafts
May 14, 2010
Today Miss Jessica had our youngest students create a little woodland nest for a baby mouse. Nature was used to create this little habitat by using white fluffy seed pods (which tickled our noses), baby pine cones, and white pine needles!
Our students also made block prints using seashells and white pine sprigs to create a beautiful piece of art. It was a special morning with our families celebrating the natural world around us!
Please join us this Monday at 9:00 a.m. for BCD Reads and Stellaluna!

Preschool Celebrates Mother’s Day!
May 6, 2010
How special would it feel to be celebrated by your Preschool student? Our Preschool Mothers found out today! Mrs. Atwater, Miss Guerette and the BCD Preschool students worked hard to prepare a special day for their Mothers by baking muffins, creating beautiful centerpeices and designing brightly colored necklaces for the special ladies in their lives.
Spring Kayak on the Pond
May 4, 2010
This week our Middle School & Upper School students have the opportunity to learn a new skill! They will be kayaking on the pond for their P.E. class with Mrs. Heady during the week! What a wonderful way to kick off the month of May at bcd!

Happy May Day!
April 30, 2010
Today “BCD & Me” took a nature walk around our beautiful Brook Farm playground to find spring flowers for our May Day baskets!
It was a beautiful spring day to explore for flowers to add to our little baskets that we will hang on the door of a special friend in celebration of May Day!
Please join us next Friday, the 7th, as we create an Obstacle Course on our Preschool playground for our energetic class!
