Spring is a busy time for us all. Everything is changing and growing so quickly. Students came back from March Break looking as though they grew several inches while on vacation, the campus is coming alive with flowers and green things, and spring concerts and festivals are just around the corner.

At the same time, much is in the works for the planning of next fall and excitement about what is to come. One of the most exciting pieces of news is the hiring of a new Lower School teacher.

Julie Milani, the renowned Kindergarten/First Grade teacher in the one-room schoolhouse in South Egremont, will join the BCD faculty as our new First Grade teacher this fall. With over twenty-seven years of teaching experience, Julie possesses the abilities of a practiced educator, demonstrated innovator, and experienced teacher of teachers.

Recently, Head of School Paul Lindenmaier observed Julie’s classroom in action and made the following observations: “Julie possesses an engaging rapport with young children, and the strength and breadth of her curriculum and teaching practice are exemplary. The positive culture in her classroom and the values that she embraces are readily apparent, as is her ability to individualize programs to meet the needs of different learners.”

Julie’s energy and experience will be invaluable contributions to the community and the program at BCD. Don’t hesitate to be in touch if you would like to learn more about this dynamic, engaged community. Now is a beautiful time to visit BCD’s campus and we are still accepting applications for some classes.

Enjoy the season we’ll see you soon!
